Owners of 1-5 marla land in urban areas and 1-10 marla land in rural areas will get interest-free loans of Rs 15 lakh.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the Apna Chhat Apna Ghar (Our Roof, Our Home) housing scheme of the provincial government on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Maryam said that there is no place like home.
“Those who have their own house, their own roof, they do not understand what it is like to be homeless.”
The Chief Minister said that owners of 1 to 5 marla land in urban areas and 1 to 10 marla land in rural areas will get interest-free loans of Rs 15 lakh from the Punjab government for building houses.
He further said that for the first three months, the landlords will not pay even a single rupee.

He outlined the structure of the loan, saying it would be repaid over a period of seven years.
“There is no need to pay the first three months. Borrowers have to pay a maximum monthly installment of Rs 14,000.
“I have fixed the installments at Rs 14,000 as people need to budget monthly, pay children’s fees and utility bills and buy food and medicine,” the chief minister said.
Interested parties can fill online application on PITB online portal, he added.
